The Victims of Immigrant Crime Engagement, or VOICE, office opened Wednesday to track crimes committed by immigrants - legal or undocumented - to the United States.

The same executive order that called for creating the new office also directed the Homeland Security Department to overhaul its privacy policy and ensure that people in the country illegally are not afforded the same privacy protections as US citizens.

"This just continues the campaign strategy Donald Trump employed to vilify immigrants and identify them with a small number of crimes committed by undocumented immigrants", Brent Wilkes, head the of League of United Latin American Citizens, told the New York Times.

Critics have argued that such an office is misguided in part because multiple studies show that immigrants are less likely to commit crime than native-born USA citizens.

"All crime is bad, but these victims are unique-and too often ignored", said Secretary Kelly.

Kurds and Turks trade fire on Syria border
US officials said that they had asked Turkey not to proceed without proper coordination but that the request was ignored. Turkey also killed six Kurdish peshmerga fighters in northern Iraq on Tuesday in an apparent accident.

Police officials in major America cities, and city officials from NY to Seattle, have argued that immigrants are less likely to commit serious crimes or be jailed. Under the control of Dept of Homeland Security, the office is to aid citizens who have been victimized by illegal immigrants.

While the president's efforts to temporarily restrict immigration by executive order from a handful of predominately Muslim countries were blocked by the courts, the federal government moved ahead with changes in domestic immigration policy.

"There is nothing but goodness in what we're doing today", said John Kelly, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. "The office is called VOICE, Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement".

"I'm elated that the VOICE has started", she said.

Her son, Mesa Police Sgt. Brandon Mendoza, was killed in 2014 when a drunken driver on the wrong side of the road hit his auto head-on. But administration officials have shifted the tone of the conversation by focusing on victims of crimes committed by immigrants.

Dodgers call up top prospect Cody Bellinger to help outfield
Let's hope Pederson's injury isn't too severe and we can see both Bellinger and Pederson in the outfield at the same time. The Los Angeles Dodgers selected Cody Bellinger in the fourth round of the 2013 draft out of high school in Arizona.

"The best place for us to pick up these illegal criminals is in jails and prisons", Kelly said last week while in San Diego, the outlet reported.

Kelly said he intended "nothing but goodness", a claim disputed by immigrant advocates. "We have to go where we can find them and apprehend them", Kelly said.

Both praised Trump for working to help victims and their families.

"It's another promise that our president has kept", he said.
