India 'concerned' over Jadhav's health

Indian High Commissioner Gautam Bambawale will today meet Pakistan Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry to repeat interest for consular access to Kulbhushan Jadhav, who has been granted capital punishment by the Islamabad military court.

However, Janjua contended Jadhav was not covered under a bilateral agreement on consular access as he was a "spy". This was conveyed by Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad Gautam Bambawale to Pakistan Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua during a meeting sought by him. The mother of Jadhav has requested the intervention of the Federal Government of Pakistan for his release and has expressed the desire to meet him.

India is seeking consular access to Jadhav apart of the copy of the chargesheet and a copy of the court verdict.

Rejecting India's stand that Jadhav was kidnapped from Iran, Basit said he was caught in Balochistan and was tried for "espionage and sabotage".
