Hit by NASCAR penalty, Logano says team doesn't cheat

Joey Logano, Penske penalized following victory at Richmond

Joey Logano's Richmond win won't count towards NASCAR playoffs

Penske confirmed it would not appeal the decision. Greg Erwin, a crew chief in the organization's Xfinity program, will help call race strategy Sunday. Logano's winning auto was cited for a rear suspension violation that was discovered during teardown in North Carolina. The differences are that NASCAR still declares the winning driver the victor (the sanctioning body has always been loathe to name anyone a race victor who didn't take the checkered flag) and that vacated victories in other sports usually take place down the road, not within the season now being contested.

NASCAR began policing the maneuver and penalizing practice times of teams for attempting to swerve immediately after a race. The crew chief told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio on Friday that the gap was between the pinion shim and the truck arm surface on the right truck arm. And in some ways, he's right - the NASCAR record book will show Logano won.

Logano was given NASCAR's most severe penalty, as his victory in the Toyota Owners 400 was deemed "encumbered". There are still 17 races left before the playoffs and only six drivers are now locked in because of race wins. The penalty carries multiple consequences, which includes making Logano's win at Richmond on Sunday encumbered and taking away the five playoff points that came with the victory. We've lost a lot of regular points. And as we've said many times, NASCAR reality has a sharp tendency to be more outlandish than fiction.

Oil rebounds on Saudi assurances Russian Federation will extend
The main emerging currencies were all on track for weekly losses and MSCI's closely-followed EM stocks index hit a 10-day low. USA crude CLcv1 rose 1.65 percent to $46.27 per barrel and Brent LCOcv1 was last at $49.14, up 1.57 percent on the day.

A $50,000 fine has also been issued and crew chief Todd Gordon has been suspended for two races.

"We are disappointed by the notice, however, we do not plan to appeal the penalty".

Separately, Team Penske is appealing a three-race suspension on the crew chief for teammate Brad Keselowski.

Trump invites Philippines' Duterte to the White House
Obama had previously raised concerns about Duterte's controversial war on drugs and his human rights record. Duterte publicly sparred with former President Obama by using curses and racial epithets to describe him .

"From what I've been told, we just had a small gap underneath the truck arm to the housing". I think we push as hard as we can because we're looking for hundredths of a second - every race team is - the fact of the matter is we're winning right now and when your vehicle wins it gets put through tech a lot.

"We're gonna have to push as hard as we can to be successful, and sometimes you go over that line", Logano said.
