Clayton Kershaw and Cody Bellinger Lead Dodgers Over Padres, 10-2

Kershaw allowed one run in 7 1/3 innings Saturday night to win his eighth straight decision against the Padres while Bellinger hit his third homer - a grand slam - in two nights against San Diego to lead the Dodgers to a 10-2 victory at Petco Park. "I'm just getting some good pitches to hit and doing the most with it".

Originally, Roberts said he would send Bellinger back down to the minors, but he had already softened on that stance earlier this week.

"Every time he steps on the field, let alone in the batter's box, you think something is going to happen", Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "The ball just stayed flat in the middle", Chacin said. Serving in a closing role thus far, Diaz has failed to close much of anything this season, allowing 12 earned-runs in 13 innings-pitched on the 2017 season.

Toles tried once to put a bunt down with runners at first and second in the seventh inning with the Dodgers trailing by one and Corey Seager and Justin Turner lined up behind him.

What to Know About the Eta Aquarid Meteor Shower
NASA says the comet is featured in the Bayeux tapestry, which is an embroidered cloth that depicts the Battle of Hastings in 1066. This year, the best period to see the meteors will be in the early morning hours of May 6, according to NASA .

Still, Kershaw left the game with a 5-1 lead in what should have been a fairly low-stress evening for the Dodgers.

Richard surrendered five runs on seven hits with a career-high six walks and five strikeouts in just five short innings for San Diego. He also made a nice running catch in the gap in the fifth inning and uncorked a laser throw from right field to throw Yangervis Solarte out at third in the fourth inning. Yasiel Puig singled home Bellinger to make it 3-0.

"I thought he battled really well today", Padres manager Andy Green said.

The Padres tied it at 1 in the fourth when they got their first hit off Maeda, a leadoff double by Cory Spangenberg. But Margot was thrown out trying to advance to third after Wil Myers' fly out to center fielder Hernandez. He struck out five. That included putting Adrian Gonzalez on the disabled list for the first time.

Penguins chase Holtby, beat Capitals to take 2-0 series lead
If the shot volume is the same from Game 1 then the Penguins will be screwed if Fleury does not continue to play at this level. While everything is butterflies and rainbows in the Penguins net, the Capitals may have a goalie controversy in theirs.

To take Gonzalez's roster spot, the Dodgers reinstated outfielder Joc Pederson, who had been sidelined with a right groin strain.

Another Clayton, Padres' starting pitcher, Clayton Richard, did not fair as well as the Dodgers avenged a loss to Richard in the second game of the season at Dodger Stadium.

Padres: C Hector Sanchez was hit on the right foot by a foul ball by Pederson in the sixth.

Dodgers: LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu (left hip contusion) could return next weekend.
