Indians ace Kluber leaves game with back discomfort

The Indians announced on Wednesday that starter Corey Kluber has been placed on the 10-day disabled list and pitcher Joe Colon has been called up from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Kluber left Tuesday night's game against the Detroit Tigers because of back discomfort. On a cold, damp night, he left Detroit's 5-2 win over the Cleveland Indians for a defensive replacement after seven innings.

Hicks also added seven RBI, six runs scored, three RBI, a walk and a home run. He is 3-2 with a 5.06 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP in six starts. "It's a little easier when you tell them they're being sent down because Miguel Cabrera's coming off the disabled list", Ausmus said. "My whole goal this season was to work on getting quicker outs, so that means throwing a few more fastballs and throwing more strikes". The Tigers are now playing a four-game series against the defending World Series runners-up. This was Almonte's first start in center field this year, and that play was the only one which presented any challenge for him.

Cody Allen walked two in the ninth but struck out Jim Adduci with the tying run on third to end it. Allen has seven saves in seven chances.

Vegas Play of the Day: San Antonio Spurs at Houston Rockets
The Spurs led by six when Aldridge scored all of their points in a 7-2 run to make it 85-74 with about five minutes left. Several reports said Parker, 34, had undergone a scan which revealed an injury to a quadriceps tendon requiring surgery.

Overall, the Detroit Tigers rank fifth in wRC+, seventh in both ISO and slugging percentage, as well as eighth in wOBA.

Manager Terry Francona said Jackson jammed his toe on first base, but didn't have any more information on the injury. He navigates his way through a lineup pretty good.

He played in 158 games past year, hitting.316 with 38 home runs and 108 RBIs.

Carrasco had pitched eight innings in each of his previous two starts, but he only went six Wednesday and said he wasn't feeling his best. At this point, it would make sense to put Kluber on the 10-day DL.

Penguins chase Holtby, beat Capitals to take 2-0 series lead
If the shot volume is the same from Game 1 then the Penguins will be screwed if Fleury does not continue to play at this level. While everything is butterflies and rainbows in the Penguins net, the Capitals may have a goalie controversy in theirs.

"Those guys were tremendous", Francona said.

"I think we played good enough to win; it's just the guy on the other side threw a real good game as well", Boyd said.
