John Oliver on Trump firing Comey: 'Can he really be this stupid?'

With that exasperated declaration, the comedian set about unpacking the week's news on his Sunday show, HBO's "Last Week Tonight" - starting with, no surprise, President Trump's abrupt firing of FBI Director James B. Comey. "Eggplant emoji, '" he joked. Trump posted last week, after sharing his version of his conversations with Comey in an NBC interview with Lester Holt.

At this point, President Trump has made it very clear: He fired the director of the FBI at least partially due to unhappiness with the bureau's investigation into his campaign's possible collusion with Russian Federation. "Because I don't. I don't remember what they felt like".

Oliver called bullshit on Trump's version of events-pointing to what he called Comey's more plausible version of the dinner that got out to the press-before demonstrating just how worse Trump made it after threatening Comey on Twitter. "It's the kind of response that asks three questions: one, can he really be this stupid?" And three, are we as a country this stupid?

Pippa Middleton's 'elegant' wedding dress design revealed
She enacted the " no ring, no bring " rule, which means a guest can not bring a date if he or she is not married to the person. These final days will be a juggling act for Pippa, who will want to oversee the details and make sure everything goes to plan.

"I can't wait for Bill English to make a sex tape", he quipped.

But Oliver does know that it's time to Congress to step up and do something about this mess.

Indeed, on Friday, associates of Comey gave differing accounts of the alleged conversations between Trump and the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director - prompting the president to hint on Twitter that he may have secretly recorded their exchanges.

The rocket lifted off from Launch Complex 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center at the beginning of the launch window, at 7:21 p.m. The satellite, known as I-5 F4, represents the fourth satellite in the company's fifth-generation fleet of satellites.

Oliver then listed off numerous ways the Trump administration has attempted to dismiss any accusations; until the President admitted on Television he was going to fire Comey without talking to his team. "It's honestly incredible to watch a man who spends 90 minutes every morning working out refuse to show any strength whatsoever". Almost a week into the fallout from Comey's firing, Oliver is just as exhausted as you are and he no longer remembers what normal weeks are like. "Apparently, no part of P90X targets the backbone", he adds, taking a dig at Ryan's fitness regimen.

"I think I speak on behalf of all humanity when I say 'no"!
