The memorial includes 21-thousand names of fallen law enforcement officers dating back to 1791.

A Police Memorial Day service will take place Monday in Savannah.

The White House will be lit up in blue on Monday night, to honor the nation's law fallen enforcement officers. "The names of more than 21,000 men and women who wore the uniform grace the Memorial walls, and they deserve all the recognition this day bestows on them".

President John F. Kennedy established May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day in 1962, and designated the week in which it falls as National Police Week.
