Canada's Brooke Henderson wins Meijer LPGA Classic

Canada's Brooke Henderson won the Meijer LPGA Classic on Sunday for her fourth LPGA Tour title, holding off Michelle Wie and Lexi Thompson by two strokes. "But this week seems to be a turnaround week, and hopefully I can just finish strong the next two days".

Coming off a playoff loss to Ariya Jutanugarn last week at the Manulife Classic in Cambridge, Ont., Thompson had six birdies - four on the back nine - and a bogey to reach 15-under 196.

"I kind of peeked with about five holes to go and I think it said minus 14 was leading, and then I just saw on the last minus 12 was", Thompson said.

"I played really steady golf".

"I was surprised when I looked at the leaderboard and had a two-shot lead on the 18th green but I'm super happy", Henderson said.

"Obviously I saw (Henderson) playing good, and when she's on, it's hard to beat her but I'm excited to keep fighting", said Ciganda, a two-time LPGA victor.

"It was just a matter of staying patient", Thompson said of her key for Saturday. Ciganda, meanwhile, surged into contention with an eagle and five birdies on the same course where she lost a playoff to Kim Sei-young a year ago.
