The man who shot Congressman Scalise

Hodgkinson acted alone, visited Sanders' office, FBI says

Scalise remained in critical condition on Friday although his condition has improved, doctors said. It contained the names of Rep. Mo Brooks, Rep. Trent Franks of Arizona, Rep. Jeff Duncan of SC and some other names that were not released.

The FBI said in a joint statement with other law enforcement agencies Friday that it is continuing to process evidence in an effort to determine a motive in the shooting.

Duncan told reporters the morning of the attack that he had encountered Hodgkinson who asked him if it was Republican or Democratic lawmakers on the field.

Franks confirmed that the Federal Bureau of Investigation has been contacting congressman to inform them of their spots on the list, while on "The Story with Martha MacCallum".

Brooks tells CNN that he was contacted by Capitol Police and told his name and office number were on the list.

Also suffering relatively minor injuries were two Capitol Police officers, David Bailey and Crystal Griner, and House GOP aide Zack Barth.
