No bail for Dileep; actor sent back to Aluva sub-jail

The court went with the prosecution which opposed bail pointing out an ongoing campaign in support of the actor on social media.

Dileep's lawyer presented two mobiles at the court, which is believed to be belonging to the actor.

The actor will be sent back to the Aluva sub-jail under judicial custody till July 25. The special prosecutor recalled the actor's statements and reactions before his arrest which apparently preyed on the victim. Earlier, the prosecution had argued that the remarks made by the actor against the attacked actress only reveals his mental stature and, therefore, he should not be granted bail.

It all began when a popular Malayalam actress was abducted on February 17 while she was on her way home after a shoot. He can approach the same court or higher courts, including the Kerala High Court, challenging the lower court's order which denied him bail.

Police reportedly conducted a search in the house of Dileep in search of the mobile phones.

Although the prime accused, Pulsar Suni, was nabbed by the police within a few days, there was suspicion that the crime had a conspiracy behind it.

The petitioners had alleged that collection of personal details like finger prints and iris scan violated the right to privacy. Former Karnataka High Court judge Justice K S Puttaswamy and others had challenged the legal validity of Aadhaar in 2012.

The court had accepted a request by the police and extended the actor's custody till Saturday 5 pm.

Police had taken the 48-year-old actor, arrested on July 10, to various places in Kochi, Thrissur and Thodupuzha to carry out their investigation.

The police continued to be on the look out for Appunni, the aide of Dileep, who remained untraceable despite being summoned by the police for questioning.
