Since the vehicle accident, West Virginia investigators were able to confirm the 11-year-old girl was killed in Jacksonville and loaded into the auto.
"That wasn't the woman I married- that wasn't the woman I entrusted with my child", Plummer added. The crime scene was processed and foul play is suspected in the child's death. Troopers found Newsome and her daughter's body 150 yards away from the roadway.
Newsome told authorities after Sunday's crash they left Jacksonville on Friday to drive to the home of the girl's father in Buffalo, New York, The Pocahontas Times reported. He said he had not seen Newsome or his daughter in person since 2014 when they moved to Jacksonville.
"Something pushed her over the edge and she snapped", he told News 4 Jax.
Kenyans Vote in Presidential Election, Amid Fears of Violence
In 2007, the disputed vote escalated in to violence that left at least 1,300 people dead and 600,000 displaced from their homes. Millions of registered voters in Kenya go to polls today in one of the most closely watched elections on the African continent.
The girl's dead body was inside a auto when her mother, Erica Newsome of Jacksonville, lost control of the vehicle and crashed near the West Virginia and Virginia border Sunday morning, police said. She and her daughter, Kaye-lea Plummer, were traveling from Jacksonville, Fl to Buffalo, NY when Newsome lost control of the vehicle in West Virginia.
According to MetroNews in West Virginia, investigators were able to determine the child was killed in Jacksonville and loaded into the auto. They said they sat frozen as she dragged the body over an embankment and into the woods.
Officials said detectives from the Jacksonville, Florida Sheriff's Department and the West Virginia State Police Department-Marlinton Detachment will investigate the vehicle accident and Kaye-lea Plummer's death.
"The child was placed in the vehicle early Saturday morning and she headed toward Buffalo, New York", Barlow said.
Missouri Police Officer Shot And Killed At Traffic Stop
Sergeant Bill Lowe of the Missouri Highway Patrol told 41 Action News the traffic stop was in regard to a registration violation. Authorities believe he is on foot and still in the Clinton area, 75 miles (120 kilometers) southeast of Kansas City.
"They just said she was found at the scene of an accident, but they don't believe my daughter died there", Plummer said. Police said the girl did not die as a result of any injuries suffered in the crash.
"If she hadn't been discovered by [the couple] I wouldn't have known about the child".
'We didn't always agree on everything, but she was a great mother.
"Some illness, some sickness that got into her- that's the only explanation I could think of because Erica didn't do that", Plummer said.
