Woman survives weeks in woods after hunting camp burglarized

Girl Who Went Missing For A Month In Alabama Wilderness Found Alive

Radiology student, 25, is found alive after going missing in the Alabama wilderness for a MONTH, surviving on only berries and wild mushrooms

She was spotted by a motorist on Highway 82 on Saturday.

A woman who said she ran into the woods to escape two men who were burglarizing a hunting lodge survived the Alabama wilderness alone for almost a month, surviving only on "berries and mushrooms", authorities said. After being treated at an emergency room, she was reunited with her family.

Lisa said she had tried to keep walking, but because of her hunger and exhaustion she was often following her own tracks. "So I went over to her and asked her if she would stay there while I get water out of my van".

Lisa was last seen on July 18 near in the community of Midway, about 35 miles southeast of Montgomery.

She told them she fled from the men because she did not want to be part of the robbery.

Police in Alabama reopened an investigation into the case of a woman named Lisa Theris, 25, who went missing in July. "She called us and told us she located the missing person", said Rodgers.

Sheriff Buck Rodgers says the Louisville woman ran from two men who burglarized a hunting camp in Midway and got lost.

"I gave her a hug and said, 'You poor thing".

"The bugs had really been on her and she had a lot of scratch marks". We wanted to make sure her health was in the best shape and in the days to come, we'll get some answers. "We did not interrogate her at that time". Finally the young lady has been found and she's alive. She said she spent the last four weeks trying to navigate her way out of the woods but ended up going around in circles.

Brother Will celebrated her discovery on Facebook by posting a picture of his resilient sister.

"I've been doing this now going on 15 years and I've never seen anything like it", Sheriff's Sgt. Chad Faulkner told WTVY. Her will to live is incredible.

Luckily, according to her brother, Will, she is able to make jokes and get through the pain.

The two hunting lodge robbery suspects, Randall Oswald and Manley Davis, were arrested, charged with theft, and considered persons of interest in the disappearance of the radiology student. "The next few weeks will be rough, but she is handling it all like a trooper".

Ms Theris's sister, Elizabeth, told WSFA there was "not an inch" of her sister that had not been affected, but said the family was happy and relieved to discover she was alive. "We are very thankful for everyone's thoughts and prayers and look forward to our baby fully recovering".
