National Investigation Agency raids house of Hurriyat leader, seizes Rs 2.2 cr

The residents of Shariatabad Budgam on thursday stormed into the residence of Aga Syed Hasan, senior Hurriyat leader where NIA slueths were conducting a raid and raised massive slogans against the investigating agency.

Eight persons including seven senior separatists and one businessman were arrested by NIA out of which one has turned approver in the case and has recorded his statement against anti-national activities of other Hurriyat leaders. The central agency has paced its probe in Jammu and Kashmir terror funding and is planning of questioning alleged mastermind of all the subversive activities in valley - Syed Ali Shah Geelani by end of this month.

He said that so-called PDP government which to befool people is trying to portray that as if it knows nothing about NIA terror, is actually acting as an abettor and facilitator to NIA and today my arrest, and the house arresting Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umer Farooq actually exposes dubious politics of PDP rulers.

At around 8.00 PM, scores of Aga's followers gathered outside his house and at Imambara of Budgam and they held a strong protest against the NIA search operation.

NIA sleuths found three arms - a pistol, a double-barrel gun and a.315 rifle - in possession of Razzaq Choudhary, a close aide of separatist leader Shabir Shah, officials said.

Besides, the NIA team also raided and searched the house of JKLF leader Showkat Ahmad Bakshi. "The raids continued for over 9 hours", they said.

Searches were conducted in houses and business establishments of those suspected of channelising funds to fuel unrest in the Kashmir Valley.

The NIA sleuths raided residences of businessmen Abdul Khaliq Mir at Kralpora, Kupwara and Ghulam Rasool Magray and his neighbour Amin Magray of Sudarpora Kandi, Kupwara.

The fresh raids at over 10 places came a day after Mr. Geelani, Mr. Malik and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq announced their move to court arrests before the NIA in Delhi on September 9.
