Star Wars: Episode IX is now in need of a new director, as Lucasfilm and Disney announced on Tuesday that Colin Trevorrow - who was also developing the film's script - has left the project.

Following the departure of Colin Trevorrow from Star Wars: Episode IX, a new report has emerged revealing why the director was sacked from the project.

Abrams previously took the directors gig for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the movie that started off this new trilogy. However, it could also make Episode IX feel like a step backward if The Last Jedi does deliver some unique filmmaking twists to the Star Wars canon.

"It was never in the plan for me to direct Episode IX". And in 2015, the company fired director Josh Trank from work on another Star Wars spinoff.

Many fans expressed admiration for "The Force Awakens" and signaled their approval of the decision, although others saw it as a missed opportunity.

The pair were replaced by Oscar-winning filmmaker Ron Howard after clashing with Kennedy and writer Lawrence Kasdan, according to reports. This was the second massive directorial shakeup Lucasfilm endured in 2017, as Trevorrow's departure happened just a few short months after Phil Lord and Chris Miller's surprise firing from the Han Solo anthology film. There is little doubt he will be given great creative control over what exactly Episode IX will finally look like.

Hillary Clinton says she's 'done with being a candidate'
Trump supporters and other conservatives jumped on the comment and used it to paint Clinton as an out-of-touch elitist. One of Pauley's toughest questions for Clinton wasn't about her e-mail server or the pain Wall Street speeches.

Since directing "The Force Awakens", Abrams has not committed to his next feature gig, mainly producing movies including the next untitled "Cloverfield" film that Julius Onah helmed.
