Canadian police said early on Sunday that an attack on an officer outside a football game with a vehicle and knife and a high-speed chase of a U-Haul that left four people injured in the western city of Edmonton, Alberta, are being investigated as acts of terrorism.
Abdulahi Hasan Sharif, a 30-year-old refugee from Somalia, is scheduled to appear in an Edmonton court on Tuesday morning where he will be formally charged with 11 counts including attempted murder, risky driving, flight causing bodily harm and possession of a weapon for unsafe purposes.
The Edmonton Police Service is investigating a vicious attack on a police officer as "acts of terrorism".
The terrorist was a Muslim "refugee, a Somali national named Abdulahi Hasan Sharif who was "known" to police".
Sharif is scheduled to appear in provincial court for a bail hearing on the sworn charges on Tuesday morning.
