White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee-Sanders will address the media at 1 p.m.

Papadopoulos' lie to Federal Bureau of Investigation agents detailed the nature of his interactions with "foreign nationals" who he believed to be closely connected to senior Russian government officials.

Both the Manafort charges and the Papadopoulos case are part of special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election and whether the Trump campaign colluded with the foreign power to win the election.

That's narrowly correct if Sanders is referring to the indictments of Paul Manafort and Rick Gates on 12 counts, including conspiracy, money laundering, failure to file financial disclosures, failure to register as foreign agents, and false statements therein.

Barnaby Joyce: Australia deputy PM disqualified from office
Joyce told lawmakers in August he had discovered he was a New Zealand citizen, throwing his position in parliament into jeopardy. Disqualified senators are replaced by members of their own parties without an election so the balance of power is not altered.

The indictment also said that Papadopoulos was told by the Russian professor in London that the Russians had dirt on Hillary Clinton in the form of thousands of emails.

But "nothing happened beyond that", Sanders said of the "volunteer" adviser who she said attended just one campaign meeting. "It has nothing to do with the activities of the campaign", she said.

"What Papadopoulos did was lie and that's on him, not the campaign", said Mrs. Sanders. And again, no activity was ever done in an official capacity on behalf of the campaign in that regard.

Sanders insisted that Papadopoulos was a member of a volunteer advisory council that only met once and had no paid role within the campaign, while glossing over the actual meeting that occurred between even higher campaign officials and Russian government officials in Trump Tower in June 2016.

The Washington Post reported last week that the Clinton campaign and the DNC had hired FusionGPS to produce a dossier on Trump.

"We believe that it will be concluded soon", she said.

Sanders was also asked how she could "describe Papadopoulos as having a limited role when there's a photograph of [him] sitting at a table with then-candidate Trump at a national security meeting".
